Thanks to funding from the Washington State Legislature and Microsoft, Washington State residents are now able to take FREE online courses to improve their skills on Microsoft's software through the IT Academy program.

With access to 250 online courses and resources on Microsoft software, including Windows operating systems, Office software like Word and Excel, and network and programming, you can start improving your business skills or learn basic and advanced computer skills today!

All you need to do is visit the Ritzville Public Library or Lind Community Library and ask for a Microsoft IT Academy brochure. The brochure covers how to get started and choose courses.  The Microsoft IT Academy also has a YouTube channel with several videos to help you get started!

To participate in the IT Academy program, you will need:

  • Enrollment code, which is available at both library locations
  • Computer or tablet with an internet connection (DSL, broadband or satellite)

Please note: Apple iOS systems are not supported

Certification

Certification isn't required, but it's a great way to show potential educators and employers  that you've mastered the skills required to use programs like Word and Excel at school or in the workplace.

Taking a certification exam usually costs $50 or more, but thanks to a partnership with the Washington State Library, we can offer residents of Ritzville Library District #2 an opportunity to take these exams for free!  Just bring in a certificate from a Microsoft IT Academy course series as proof that you've completed it, and we'll provide you with a free exam voucher.

Testing is available at our Ritzville branch Monday-Friday, 11am-5pm.  Contact us at 509-659-1222 or info@ritzvillelibrary.com to sign up for an exam. You can learn more about getting certified here or on our testing policy page.
